The Super Bowl halftime show puts up huge numbers every year — 10 acts have topped over 100m views, with J.Lo and Shakira coming in at 104m; and last year’s coming in on top. In 1993, a performance by Michael Jackson turned the halftime show into “must-watch television.” In 2004, Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson turned it into a controversy, and in 2023, Rihanna turned it into the second-biggest televised event in US history.
