Technology enabled and worsened the situation. In addition to Hamas’ deadly attacks on the ground, hackers targeted Israeli infrastructure. Per SecurityWeek, hackers took emergency warning systems temporarily offline and targeted a power grid organization, power plant, and the nation's largest electrical supply. But perhaps the biggest influence of technology was the role of cryptocurrency. Hamas and two other groups linked to the attack bypassed international banking systems via crypto and funded their attacks using digital wallets.
